Lab Coats FAQ
What's the difference between a lab coat and a dust coat?
Lab coats like Biz Collection H132ML and Softies SL01 have structured collars, chest pockets, and a clinical silhouette designed for healthcare and scientific environments.
Dust coats like JB's 5HDC and DNC 3502 are knee-length with a utilitarian cut, better suited to lab technicians, pharmacists, and industrial settings. If your role involves patient interaction, go for a lab coat. If you're mostly bench-side, a dust coat works great.
Which lab coat is best for long shifts?
The Softies SL01 (Icy White, $32.99) is the most shift-friendly option. Softies fabric is known for its softness and breathability over long hours. The Biz Collection H132ML ($44.99) suits those who want a more structured silhouette that holds its shape through a full day. Both are poly-cotton blends that wash well and resist wrinkling.
How do I size a lab coat correctly?
Most lab coats use standard XS–5XL sizing (chest-based). The DNC Workwear 3502 is the exception, numeric sizing (87R–122R), where the number is your chest in centimetres and "R" means regular torso length. If you're between sizes, size up for ease of movement over scrubs. Unisex cuts like the Biz H132ML and Benchmark M7632 run slightly boxy. Women who prefer a closer fit may want to size down one.
Can I get my name or clinic logo embroidered?
Yes. Simply Scrubs offers free setup on embroidery (up to 10,000 stitches) and screen printing (minimum 11 garments, same position, size, and colour). Prices shown are per garment, per position. The Benchmark M7632 and Biz H132ML both have clean white surfaces that take embroidery well. For group or bulk orders, contact our team directly here or call as at 1300 789 768.
Are these lab coats suitable for university students?
All of our lab coats are priced under $45 AUD practical for students in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, nursing, and allied health. The JB's Dust Coat 5HDC ($39.99, navy/white/grey) is a popular choice for lab subjects: easy to care for, good coverage, and suitable for clinical placements too. If your faculty specifies white only, the Softies SL01 or DNC 3502 are solid picks.
What fabric should I choose, cotton blend or anti-static?
Most coats here use a 65% polyester / 35% cotton blend, durable, low-maintenance, and fast-drying. The Benchmark M7632 adds anti-static twill, making it the right pick for environments near sensitive equipment, electronics, or flammable materials.
Do you ship lab coats across Australia?
Yes, with a flat rate nationwide. Orders are processed Mon–Fri, 9am–2pm AWST from Wangara, Perth. Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and major cards accepted. Returns policy applies if the size isn't right.
